Connect your PC or Mac laptop to the public wireless network
ITS also has detailed information on the Campus wireless network as well as instructions on how to connect. http://www.utexas.edu/its/network/public/
NOTE: If you don’t have a wireless card in your laptop but are in a room with a network port, (CMA 3.124 for example) you can connect to that port and follow steps 3-5 for Macs and steps 5-7 for PCs.
Macintosh:
1. Turn on “Airport” by selecting “Turn Airport On” under the wireless icon in the upper right corner of your screen.

If this menu isn’t available, open “System Preferences,” select “Network” double click on “AirPort” then select “Show AirPort Status in menu bar.” This will let you monitor whether or not you are getting a signal without having to open “System Preferences.”

2. Be sure to click “join” when asked whether or not you want to join the wireless network “utexas.”
3. Open a web browser and go to any web address.
4. Log into the “Wireless Network Authentication” page with your EID and select whether or not you share your computer with others.

5. You should now have access to the internet!
Windows:
1. Make sure your laptop has a wireless card installed (most recently purchased laptops have wireless cards installed).
2. When in range of a wireless network, double click on the wireless network connection icon in the lower right portion of your screen.
