Digitizing DAT into KONA Suites

Patching in MR

On the digital audio patch panel patch "dat ch 1/2" out to Kona 1 or 2 ch 1/2 in

On DAT deck make sure deck is reference to house black 29.97. 

Press the "External Sync" button on front on deck and it should read "1-29"

1. Open the Final Cut Project

2. Check the easy setup to make sure settings are correct

AJA Video Kona SD NTSC/23.98pJPEG for double system projects or choose the correct setting for your project.

3. Open Log and Capture "apple 8"

click on the "Capture Settings" tab and change "Device control" to "Non-Controllable Device"

4. Set the scratch disk to the correct storage drive

5. Click on "Clip Settings" and set the "Capture" to "Audio Only"

6. Play the DAT source tape and check levels into FCP  There is no control over audio input levels because it is digital.

7. Click on the "Capture Now" button to start capturing.  Hit Escape on the keyboard to stop capturing
