Linking to a file on the Stellent Server

To link to a PDF file, first get the Content ID number for the PDF file.

If the PDF file has not been checked in, check it in and get the Content ID number from the Check in Confirmation screen.

If the PDF file is already in the system, search for the PDF file. The Content ID number is the number in the first column of the Search Results page.

So, the content ID for Barry Brummett's curriculum vita is PROD_002557.

Access the content that needs the link to the PDF per the instructions found on this site. In the Word document, open the hyperlink dialog box. (PC: right click, select edit hyperlink. Macintoshhighlight link, then press Command key + K.)

Enter the text ssLINK followed by a slash (/) and the Content ID of the PDF.

Troubleshooting

If you find the links do not work, check the following Word Setting:

Tools > Options > General (tab) > Web Options (button at the bottom) > Files (tab)

and be sure the "Update links on save" option is unchecked.

Note that both versions have a Display field where you can adjust the text for the hyper link

Click OK, then save and close the document.
