New Classroom Control System in CMA and CMB Classrooms

Wednesday, January 18, 2006 - Charles Soto

In order to provide a more consistent user interface for our classroom presentation systems, we have installed touch pad controls in every projector-equipped room in CMA and CMB. These systems are remarkably similar to those you will find in classrooms throughout the University campus, as they were co-developed with Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services.

Our Help Desk is available to answer any questions you may have, and to show you how these simple systems operate.

Click below to watch a video demonstrating the touchpanel control system:

Note that most classrooms do not have a built-in computer. If you need to present using a computer, use the supplied laptop connections. You can check out laptops from our Instructional Media Center.

Also note that in classrooms that do have built-in computers, the computers are wiped of any files regularly. You shouldn't expect to find files that you placed there the last time you used the room. Rather, you can use your free 150MB of storage found on WebSpace, a campus service, or keep your files on an inexpensive "USB key." The Campus Computer Store in FAC carries a line that we can recommend.

If you have any questions, please call our Help Desk at 471-1199 (option 1), or swing by CMA 5.154 between 8a.m. and 5p.m. M-F.
