Paul Williams, CoComm Manager
Mark Rogers
, Digital Video / Audio Specialist

CoComm Creative provides video services through production, streaming media, videoconferencing, and webcasts for the College’s faculty and staff. Additional services include video transfers, recording, editing, and post-production for course/web development projects.

Production (Capturing, Editing, Post)

We can professionally videotape lectures, guest speakers, and special events. We use high quality digital video (DV) cameras and can provide multiple camera angles, with superior audio quality and proper lighting with a 3-piece Lowel light kit. Professional editing on Apple’s Final Cut Pro is also available after the taping has been completed. Once a final product has been edited and approved, the video can be authored onto a DVD or streamed on the web. Want to shoot the video yourself? We can consult on video shooting tips and techniques.

Event Recording (Archive, Live)

The College has developed a technology resource infrastructure that delivers streaming video content over the web. Special events can be streamed live. Our video on demand systems can also record class lectures and special events and this content can be available for web streaming almost instantaneously. These systems are currently installed in CMA 3.112, CMA 3.116, CMA 3.120, CMA 3.124, CMA 5.136 and a mobile unit.

CD/DVD Authoring

We can create lecture material DVDs from any tape format, ensuring quality video for years to come with the added ability to navigate right to the clip and play it from a custom menu. We can offer video transfer, expert MPEG2 encoding and custom interface menu design. The finished DVD-R master is then tested on a commercial DVD player to ensure playback. The final master DVD-R is packaged in a professionally branded case.

Streaming (Video on Demand, WebCasting)

Delivers pre-recorded audio and video over the internet. Whether the content contains class lectures, course material, or special events our system can allow users to access content from their computers at home using a broadband internet connection or from any computer lab on campus. Our system provides native support for streaming MPEG-4 files so your content runs on any standards-compliant media player on Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems.

Conferencing

When you need to video conference, we will assist you with all the technical aspects of your conference. The College maintains a mobile unit and has access to other video conferencing facilities around campus (fees may apply). With our mobile video conferencing unit, a Tandberg 550, all that is required is an internet connection and an electrical outlet. The mobile unit is compact enough to fit in the smallest of rooms. Please contact Technology Services Help Desk at 471-1199 at least one week in advance so that we can coordinate with the other participants in the conference and test the connection in advance.
