CoComm Creative develops, evaluates and provides tools and infrastructure for information systems, including resources for the retention, management and access of university records.
Ad Hoc Reports
Small tasks requiring a few minutes to a few hours, which are not part of COWeb functionality or other existing Communication systems. Typically these are requests from advisors, department chairs, Career Services or other student-facing staff, who need lists of students, usually including contact info such as email address or local address and phone. The students are often selected using criteria such as enrollment in specific courses or unique numbers, gender, ethnicity, classification or graduation date.
Application Development
Tasks requiring 100+ hours of effort, often taking several months to complete, and affecting many student users of the system. Examples include the Online Transfer Application, Online Scholarship Application, the Application to Graduate and the Degree Walker Application. All such large applications require a period of requirements gathering resulting in a scope of work document, evaluation of alternative technologies and other solutions, design, and implementation, including coding, testing, documentation, user testing and staff training.
Campus Systems Support (SSN/EID,BACS,IQ/PBIS,etc.)
Tasks involving campus-wide information systems that Communication has a stake in, but which are not wholly-owned or maintained by Communication IT staff. Examples include the SSN remediation project mandated by ITS, the campus-wide building access control system, the student data warehouse and performance-based instructional system (IQ/PBIS), the Office of Institutional Research, and the campus-wide EID conversion project.
Application Programming (XML, MySQL, .NET)
Programming for web solutions offers a myriad of possibilities. Whether programming a web-site with code to interact with a backend database using MySQL to just basic HTML coding, we can walk you through the possibilities and help you select which technology will best suit your needs.
Databases, Forms, Surveys
We support the use of databases, forms, and surveys through a variety of software tools. We can create any one of these to meet your data acquirement needs.
Maintenance
COWeb:
Addition to or enhancement of the functionality to COWeb, the OSA’s web-based toolset. Functions include beginning-of-semester reports and tools, the advisor waitlist and survey tool, generic list and label tool, the Transfer App, the Grad App, the Walker App, and miscellaneous reports that are commonly used by OSA staff and the Student Affairs Deans.
Non-COWeb
(ADV,CMS,CSD,JOU,PR,RTF): Maintenance of other systems in Communication not tied to COWeb or OSA: the IMC checkout database, the graduate Advertising and RTF advising systems, and Career Services and Advertising Internship systems.
DPUSER
(Add/Delete Accts, Authorizations, General Maintenance): All tasks related to mainframe users: adding new users, deleting users who have left UT, authorization of users for mainframe applications, unlocking of logons.
Password Reset
All EID and mainframe password resets. EIDs cannot be created by this office, but are the responsibility of the Student ID Center; however, assistance with claiming of EID passwords is routine.
