Capital Campaign

The College of Communication Capital Campaign is a multi-part campaign to build on the College’s heritage of excellence and to establish the College as the premier center for communication education in the United States.

STEP ONE: Transforming the Campus Environment

THE BELO CENTER FOR NEW MEDIA

In January of 2009, the College of Communication will break ground for the BELO CENTER FOR NEW MEDIA. Located at the corner of Guadalupe and Dean Keeton Streets, the 125,000 square foot Belo Center will be the premier center for research and teaching on media convergence in the United States.

STEP TWO: Transforming the Education Experience

The Belo Center will be the keystone in the College’s vision to lead and define communication education.

The College is simultaneously embarking on a three-pronged, $35 million campaign to strengthen its existing resources, to renovate the existing buildings in the Jesse H. Jones Communication Complex and to create cutting-edge initiatives that will enable students and faculty to shape the ideas and create the techniques that will change the face of communication.

The Step Two Campaign Components:

Foundation:

$10 million in endowments to recruit and retain world-class faculty and to provide financial assistance to deserving students.

Scholarship Support

Faculty Support

Renovation:

$10 million to bring the two buildings in the Jesse H. Jones Communication Complex up to modern standards by upgrading departmental facilities, studios, and labs.

Innovation:

$15 million to fund cutting-edge teaching, research, and outreach programs, and to equip new labs and teaching spaces in the Belo Center for New Media.
