Financial Aid for Study Abroad

Students may use any federal, state, or institutional aid they would normally be awarded by the Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS), excluding work-study, to help pay for study abroad through The University of Texas at Austin. Financial aid awards can also be recalculated to cover increased costs associated with study abroad. Additionally, most private scholarships are applicable to study abroad - however, students must confirm that with the donor. Students not currently using financial aid who are interested in applying for it are encouraged to do so.

The UT Study Abroad Office has a wealth of information to help you fund your semester abroad.

Did you know? The College of Communication awards over $450,000 in scholarships each year and although these scholarships are not identified as “study abroad scholarships,” per se, the awards will help you defray your overall educational costs, making study abroad more accessible.” Students can apply for these scholarships through one single application which is available online in March (awards are for the following academic year). The application will put you in the running for a wide range of scholarships across the College and its five departments.

The Office of Student Affairs Scholarship Coordinator also maintains a OSA Scholarship Blog to keep Communication students informed about current scholarship opportunities. The blog features a useful email subscription service, so be sure to sign up today.
