The Annette Strauss Institute at UT Austin is pleased to announce the 2007-2008 Theodore H. Strauss Civic Internship Award competition.
Five $2,500 stipends will be awarded to undergraduate students at the University of Texas at Austin conducting internships in public service, government, or politics during the summer of 2008. |
Internships should be in the areas of public policy, government, politics, or public service. They may be at the city, state, national or international level. Internships should be at least 20 hours a week and be no more than 25% secretarial in nature.
Interested students should submit an email with
- A 500 word statement of how this internship will be of benefit to you and others
- Where you plan to intern
- Major
- GPA
- Copy of a recent resume
- Contact Information including email, phone, and address
Candidates may be asked to participate in an interview at the Strauss Institute. Applications are due no later than March 31, 2008.
All winners will be expected to complete a thank you note, provide a final report, be willing to speak at the Annual Meeting, submit a current picture and a photo from their internship when they return. Stipends will be paid in two payments: one at the start of the internship and one upon completion of the final report.

Patricia Witherspoon Student Research Award competition.
Stipends will be awarded to two graduate students at the University of Texas at Austin in the amount of $2,000 to offset costs associated with conducting original research in the areas of public service, government, community service, civic life, citizenship, or politics. |
Interested students should submit an email with

- Copy of a vita

- Letter from faculty currently supervising or willing to supervise internship research
Candidates may be asked to participate in an interview at the Strauss Institute. Applications are due no later than March 31, 2008.
