Civic participation is declining and civic knowledge is faring even worse. We believe that democracy must replenish itself with engaged citizens. To accomplish this goal, we must reinvigorate our existing curriculum and captivate citizens with exciting new presentations of engagement and real life examples of civic principles and values at work. The American Trustees Project accomplishes this goal.

Young people need to be inspired. Please help us to continue the important work of preserving our democracy, with a secure online gift today!

While declining participation and the apathy of young people receives growing attention, it is important to remember that young people DO care. As the Tarrance Group reports (2001), 78 percent of young people subscribe to statements about the importance of being an American, and 65 percent of them equate caring about the good of the country with being a good American. In the last year alone, the American Trustees Project has trained over 200 teachers statewide and has received thousands of hits.

Your contribution means that we can continue to provide these important teaching materials and trainings. Your gift today will help us to bring government and democracy to life.

Financial contributions to the University of Texas at Austin are tax-deductible.
