General Information
1) Do not include letters or certificates of congratulations, thank-you notes, or student comments in the dossier.
Budget Council Report
The budget council should describe and assess academic advising responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels during at least the last three years of service and describe other activities in support of the instructional process. The typed names and signatures of those budget council members who prepared the assessment should be included on the statement. The assessment should consider:
- how the candidate has assisted in advising undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students
- service as Undergraduate Adviser or as Graduate Adviser that is especially noteworthy and deserves particular mention
- other types of advising also should be included: individual instruction, advising majors for registration, orientation activities for new students, offering advice to students considering advanced degrees, offering help with internships and job placement, and advising student organizations
- recruitment and retention activities also should be reported.
