Visiting the College

Admission decisions for the College of Communication are made solely by the Office of Admissions. The College of Communication does not review freshman applications.
Fall 2010 Freshman Applications
New Student Orientation is offered to all newly admitted freshman and transfer students. Orientation is a campus-wide program that is offered several weeks throughout the summer. During orientation students will attend various programs about the University, take necessary placement tests and work with an Academic Advisor within their major. There are various ways for a student to achieve honors:
- Senior Fellows
- Departmental Honors Program
- University Honors
- Graduating with Honors
- Honors Societies for Freshmen
- Dean's List
All of the College of Communication's scholarships for incoming freshmen are administered through the Freshman Scholarship Application (the ApplyTexas application).
First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs)
The FIG is a cluster of classes organized around an area of interest or academic major. Each FIG group has twenty students, one academic advisor and a peer mentor (a returning UT student). Click here for more information about FIGs.
Placement Test Information
Student Testing Services provides students with opportunities to take tests for credit and placement, and assists with all the details associated with testing. They can be reached at (512) 232-2662.
Transfer Equivalencies of coursework taken
The Automated Transfer Equivalency (ATE) system provides UT Austin transfer credit evaluations for courses commonly transferred from Texas colleges and universities.
