United Kingdom Newspaper Cites Professor on Apocalyptic Themes in Forthcoming Hollywood Films

AUSTIN, Texas—Aug. 10, 2009—Barry Brummet, Charles Sapp Centennial Professor in Communication and chairman of the Department of Communication Studies, was cited in the United Kingdom’s The Guardian newspaper about his research on apocalyptic rhetoric.

The article, “Hollywood searches for escapism after the apocalypse,” overviews the rash of new movies portraying a scary life on a post-cataclysm Earth. The article appeared in the Aug. 9 issue of the Guardian.
