University of Texas Student Magazine Honored for General Excellence
BurntORANGE, the University of Texas campus lifestyle magazine, won second place for General Excellence in the 2009 Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Student Magazine Contest, the group announced.
BurntORANGE was honored in the Single Issue of an Ongoing Magazine category.
The magazine won second place in the same category in 2008 and first place in 2007.
AEJMC said this year’s writing, design and magazine competition attracted 232 entries from 23 universities from the U.S. and Canada.
The judges mentioned the excellence of BurntORANGE's writing, editing, reporting and design, Faculty advisor Dave Garlock said.
“The magazine’s editor, Samantha Hyde and art director, Jessica Pendleton are the real winners in this contest,” Garlock said. “My co-advisor, Dennis Darling and I are mostly along for the ride.”
First place in the General Excellence category went to Drake University’s Think magazine.
