Literary Blog Features Journalism Professor Discussing Pornography and its Role in American Culture

AUSTIN, Texas—Feb. 11, 2009—Robert Jensen, associate professor of journalism, is featured in a week-long series of posts about love, relationships and sex on ShelfLife, an online space for book lovers to discuss literary news and events at The University of Texas at Austin.

The author Q&A, “Pornography: A Mirror of American Culture?,” provides insight into Jensen’s work researching the multi-billion dollar pornography industry, which culminated in the book “Getting Off: Pornography and the End of Masculinity” (South End Press, 2007).

In the Q&A piece, Jensen explains what motivated him to research the pornography industry, what it reveals about American culture and some of the coping skills he used while researching a difficult subject, among other things.
