Students among 12 finalists in Chipotle advertising contest
AUSTIN, Texas-- Nov. 12, 2007 -- The University of Texas at Austin is one of 12 finalists in an online advertising contest for Chipotle Mexican Grill.
Suzanne Elizondo, of Austin, and Zach Vernon, of Richardson, Texas, both seniors in the Texas Creative program in the Department of Advertising, entered the “Chipotle 30 Seconds of Fame Contest” with a stop-animation commercial touting the restaurant chain’s naturally grown ingredients.
The 30-second spot, “Natural Selection,” makes a humorous play on Noah’s Ark and shows how Chipotle determines what ingredients are put into its burritos.
The University of Texas at Austin entry can be viewed by going to the Chipotle homepage, www.chipotle.com; click on “Vid Contest” in the left navigation bar.
Spots are judged on production quality, how well they represent the brand, creativity and innovation. More than 120 colleges and universities were invited to participate. The winner will be announced Nov. 14 and will receive the $30,000 grand prize. This is the second year that Chipotle has held the contest.
