Welcome to International Programs in the College of Communication
Communication is a global phenomenon, making the study of communication a growth field around the world. Thus, we are committed to teaching, research, and professional partnerships that span international boundaries.
Steve D. Reese
Dean for Academic Affairs
We seek to strengthen the scholarly and educational excellence of the College by developing and cultivating programs of the highest quality with the most appropriate international alliances. We highlight those efforts here and provide helpful information to students, faculty and international colleagues about our initiatives and programs. The university provides a wealth of information about international programs, but here we focus on those of particular interest to the College of Communication.
We especially want to develop, promote and support study abroad opportunities for our students. Students have always benefited from the broadening of international study, but they now also find it valuable career preparation to study communication itself in a cross-national context. We maintain a number of partner relationships with other well-recognized institutions abroad, with which we exchange students; we endorse certain affiliated international programs, in which students enroll and receive transfer credit; and, increasingly, we seek to develop faculty-led programs, in which our own professors conduct UT-Austin courses--but in international settings. College faculty have international research interests, develop partnerships with colleagues abroad, and have professional reputations that increasingly lead them to share their work abroad.
As the importance of international education continues to increase, we will be seeking new ways to enhance and promote this vital dimension of the College.
