Texas Creative Students Win ADDY Awards in Two Markets
AUSTIN, Texas – Feb. 26, 2007 – With a total of 17 winning campaigns including a Best in Show, 26 Texas Creative students were awarded Gold (7), Silver (6) and Bronze (4) ADDYs on Friday at the Austin Advertising Federation’s 2007 Austin ADDYs.
The Gold ADDY® Award-Best in Show Student went to the Texas Creative team of Linda Dang, art director and Rodrigo Mendez, art director/copywriter for their Georgia Aquarium poster campaign.
For perhaps the first time in Texas Creative history, a team of Portfolio I – the first in a sequence of three classes – students were honored with an ADDY. Nicole Taylor, art director and Cameron Fleming, copywriter were recognized with a Silver ADDY Award for their Fairmont Hotels and Resorts magazine campaign.
In the Point of Purchase and Out-of-Home categories, the team of Ryan Fluet, art director, Mandy Osterhout, copywriter and Sean Thompson, creative director, were recognized twice, taking home two Gold ADDY Awards for their 3M Lint Roller campaigns.
Laura McCaskill, art director and Dan Cady, copywriter were awarded a Gold ADDY award for their Rudy Project Cycling Glasses Logo.
In the Magazine Campaign category, Bella Castano, art director and Matt Goodman, copywriter found Gold with their Tylenol campaign.
Contributors Aleka Rzeznik, art director and Ashley Thompson, copywriter took home a Silver ADDY Award for a Post-It magazine campaign.
With their Rapidograph magazine campaign, Derek Bishop, copywriter and Chase Quarterman, art director were recognized with a Silver ADDY Award.
Iva Zugic, art director/copywriter, Francisco Melo Walther, art director/copywriter and Matthew McCutchin, instructor were honored with a Bronze ADDY Award for their Gladware Containers magazine campaign.
A Silver ADDY Award recognized the team of Nancy Jeng, art director/idea maker and Matt Crump, art director/idea maker for their Orion Telescopes magazine campaign.
In the Mixed Media category, Derek Bishop, copywriter and Sara Rodriguez, art director took home a Bronze ADDY award for their Schick Quattro campaign.
The Filene’s Basement Bridal campaign submitted by Yenipher Chung, art director, Derek Bishop, copywriter and Sean Thompson, creative director was recognized in the Newspaper Campaign category with a Bronze ADDY Award.
For the Single Magazine Ad category, Yenipher Chung, art director and Rodrigo Mendez, copywriter were recognized with a Silver ADDY Award for their Nature’s Miracle Ad.
In the category of Non-Traditional Advertising, a Madam Tussauds Wax Museum campaign submitted by Paco Melo, art director, Molly Grubbs, copywriter, Maria Rivera, instructor and Matt McCutchin, instructor was awarded a Gold ADDY.
For their Travel Channel campaign, Megan Grigsby, art director and Meg Moody, copywriter were honored with a Gold ADDY Award in the Out-of-Home category. In the same category, Bella Castano, art director and Cora Schuler, copywriter were also honored with a Bronze ADDY Award for their Cool Whip Lite campaign.
In the Poster category, an Ancestry.com campaign created by Bella Castano, art director, Derek Bishop, copywriter and Sean Thompson, creative director was recognized with a Silver ADDY Award.
Additionally, the 2007 Dallas ADDY Awards were presented on Feb 8 by the Dallas Ad League. Copywriter Andrew Goldthwaite won a Bronze ADDY Award for a radio campaign he wrote and produced for the Dallas Advertising Federation while interning at Publicis in Dallas last summer.
With an award in Dallas and multiple awards in Austin, for the first time current students in the Texas Creative program have been recognized with ADDY Awards in two separate markets.

Rooted in sound strategy and conceptual process, Texas Creative molds students into fearless experimental thinkers who are primed to create innovative advertising, branding and social messages that are delivered through a variety of integrated traditional and nontraditional media.
Advertising is one of five academic departments in the College of Communication, which specializes in Advertising/Public Relations education and research and provides a training ground for creatives, account executives, media planners, account planners, interactive specialists, researchers and public relations executives.
