Event: Join journalism professor Robert Jensen in a screening of the documentary “The War on Democracy,” followed by a discussion about the work of world-renowned journalist, author and documentary filmmaker John Pilger.

When: 7 p.m., Oct. 20, 2008

Where: Mezes Hall Rm. 0.306 on The University of Texas at Austin campus. A map is available online.

Background: This is the third in a series of three screenings and discussions leading up to Pilger’s Oct. 28 campus visit where he will discuss the “war on terror,” focusing on the gap between the rhetoric in the air and reality on the ground in order to help citizens understand the methods of, and the motivations behind, that war.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Senior Fellows honors program of the College of Communication and the School of Journalism; and the student groups the Society of Professional Journalists, Texas Feminists, and Azaad Forum for Global Justice.
