Symposium to Examine Diversity and Marketing Urban Culture, April 7
Event: “The Urban Media Symposium” will feature academics, entertainers, business leaders and advertising professionals examining the impact of the African-American and Hispanic communities on contemporary culture and the related need for greater diversity in the creative, marketing and communication industries.

Background: The University of Texas at Austin Department of Advertising, along with the Austin Advertising Federation (AAF), is hosting the event the same weekend as The Urban Music Fest and the Texas Relays, which collectively attract 40,000 to 60,000 African-Americans to Austin each year – a fertile backdrop for urban marketing communication professionals to discuss strategies for diversifying the industry.
