Background: Since 1999, editors, producers, executives, and academics from around the country (and lately from around the world) have gathered in Austin every year (except 2000) to discuss the evolution of this new genre of journalism. The Symposium has been a small, but very intense conference that serves as a barometer for the state of Online Journalism.
For the fourth year, the International Symposium on Online Journalism will include presentations of original research into online journalism. All presentations will take place on the second day of the conference. The first day is devoted to presentations and panels of online journalism professionals.
Prior symposia have included professionals from around the world from news organizations such as the NYTimes.com, OhMyNews, ep3.es (El Pais’ multimedia magazine in Spain), MSNBC.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, WashingtonPost.com, ElTiempo.com (Colombia), ElComercio.com.pe (Peru), and several others.
