Journalist Jimmie Briggs to Speak About Child Soldiers at The University of Texas at Austin Nov. 15
Event: Journalist and author Jimmie Briggs will speak about his recent book, “Innocents Lost, When Children Go to War,” which documents the problem of child soldiers and other human rights issues.
When: 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Where: Jesse H. Jones College of Communication, LBJ Room (5.160) on The University of Texas campus (Maps are available at www.utexas.edu/maps/main).
Background: Briggs has spent the past seven years talking to, writing about and researching the plight of child soldiers from Colombia to Rwanda to Sri Lanka to Uganda. He is the first African-American to be appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador and Special Envoy for Children and Armed Conflict by the World Association of Former United Nations Interns and Fellows.
