"Ad-Hoc Parlor Talk" Examines Communication Issues
College-wide event in the Jesse Jones Plaza

Event: In an effort to instill cross-departmental collaboration, students and faculty within the College of Communication will discuss interdisciplinary communication issues in a novel, informal setting. Refreshments will be provided.
When: 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005
Where: The outdoor plaza at the Jesse H. Jones Communication Center on The University of Texas campus
Background: Mark Bernstein, Neal Burns, John Daly, John Fortunato, Darrell Rocha and Rachel Smith will comprise a College of Communication faculty panel exploring communication issues raised in media, including TV commercials, movies, print advertisements and news reports. A multimedia presentation will help inform the interactive discussion, which will be moderated by School of Journalism senior Joshua Howton. More than 100 students are expected to attend this innovative event.
This free event is being sponsored by the college's Communication Council (www.communicationcouncil.com) and the College of Communication at The University of Texas at Austin.
