The Internal Transfer Application has five components:
1) Selection/Verification of the major to which you are applying
2) Contact information verification
3) Verification that you meet the minimum requirements
4) Essays
a) Personal Statement (Required)
Explain your reasons for wanting to transfer into or change your major in the College of Communication.
b) Other relevant circumstances (Optional)
If applicable, briefly describe any other circumstances that are pertinent to your request for transfer or major change.
5) Résumé (submitted as a MS Word or PDF document to commresume@austin.utexas.edu)
The committee’s decisions are made shortly after final grades post for the semester (May or December). All applicants are notified of the committee’s decision via email. All decisions are final and may not be appealed.
Students who are accepted must then complete the following steps:
1. Confirm the change/add major
Students must accept their new major by clicking on a link provided in the notification email.
2. Enroll in courses at UT Austin in the following semester
3. Attend Internal Transfer Orientation
Students who are new to the College of Communication are required to attend Internal Transfer Orientation. Students who have simply changed their major from one Communication department to another do not need to attend.
