Below are the scholarships and criteria for each of the scholarships awarded each academic year through the College of Communication application.
Criteria: Undergraduate student in the College of Communication; based on ability and promise, with financial need a consideration if all other criteria equal, 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Winners must be from Starr, Cameron or Hidalgo counties or from one of the following high schools in Dallas, TX: Lincoln, Carter or Wilmer Hutchins HS. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.

Criteria: Undergraduate student of average academic merit (avg. GPA & SAT scores) who shows promise of success in their chosen field and demonstrate evidence and financial need
Criteria: Outstanding undergraduate student in the School of Journalism. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
Criteria: Undergraduate student majoring in Advertising, Radio-Television-Film, and Journalism, or Corporate Communication.
Criteria: Undergraduate Journalism or RTF student. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
Criteria: Junior, senior, or graduate student with a high degree of interest in a career in public relations. Undergraduates must have at least 3.0 GPA, and graduate students must have at last 3.5 GPA.
Criteria: Junior or senior Radio students from the Journalism or RTF department; in good academic standing; able to demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a career in radio broadcasting. If possible, preference should be given to applications who are Texas residents.
Criteria: Undergraduate student with financial need and excellent academic accomplishments.
Criteria: Undergraduate student who demonstrate evidence of financial need and shows ability and promise. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
Criteria: Junior, senior or graduate student with a high degree of interesting the Cable TV industry. Financial need may be considered.
Criteria: Deserving undergraduate student to increase employment opportunities in the media.
Criteria: Sophomore, junior, or senior who exhibits high academic standards.
Criteria: Senior student majoring in public relations, based entirely on the student’s academic excellence in the spring semester of the junior year (highest GPA).
Criteria: Restricted to undergraduate journalism or advertising major. First preference to Tyler Junior College transfer student, then any other transfer student. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
Criteria: Undergraduate student majoring in Radio-Television-Film or Journalism. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.

Criteria: Undergraduate CSD Audiology majors. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
Criteria: Undergraduate students from Laredo, TX with preference given to graduates of J.W. Nixon HS.
Criteria: Undergraduate student with preference given to students from South Texas. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
Criteria: Junior or senior students majoring in RTF or Advertising. First preference to students from Foster High School (of Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, Fort Bend County) then next preference to Texas residents. 3.25 GPA or above, at least 45 hours completed in residence. Financial need may be considered. Recipients should be enrolled full-time in both long semesters of the award year.
