New Student Orientation is offered to all newly admitted freshman and transfer students. Orientation is a campus-wide program that is offered several weeks throughout the summer. During orientation you will attend various programs about the University, take necessary placement tests and work with an Academic Advisor within your major.
CommUnity is the College of Communication’s welcome event. The event is planned in conjunction with the University’s annual welcome event, Gone to Texas which is held immediately after. CommUnity activities will wrap up around 7:30 p.m. so you will be able to attend The University event.
Every year The University of Texas, the Texas Parents' Association, and the individual Colleges across campus host a special weekend of activities for parents and other family members of UT students. This event allows participants to meet UT's President, Executive Officers and Deans and provides them with an opportunity to learn more about the campus and its resources. The College of Communication also hosts a breakfast and open house event for you and your parents the Saturday of Parents Weekend.
The College of Communication holds a graduation ceremony at the end of each Fall and Spring semester. You must apply to graduate by the deadline each semester.
The University celebrates a separate commencement ceremony at the end of May of each spring semester.
Honorees will be recognized at a college awards ceremony and luncheon. Eligible students will receive email invitations for the event and must RSVP in person in CMA 4.140. Tickets for event admission will be given to students upon RSVP. The University of Texas Honors Day Ceremony is held at a later date.
