Upon admission to the College of Communication, and early on during your studies, you should plan to meet with your academic advisor to discuss academic planning. It is best to schedule a planning session during the middle of the semester, and avoid peak advising periods when advising time is in high demand due to registration, for example.
Ideally, you should meet with your academic advisor at least once per semester to review your academic progress and receive important information and advice related to your studies and overall student experience.
There are several ways to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor:
2) Call the Office of Student Affairs at (512) 471-1553.
3) Stop by the Office of Student Affairs in CMA 4.140.
In addition to scheduled appointments, your designated academic advisor will keep a walk-in schedule and an online advising schedule. Log on to the online appointment system for information on your advisor’s schedule and availability.
Please plan to be on time for your advising appointments, as the Office of Student Affairs enforces a ten-minute rule for scheduled appointments. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be asked to reschedule.
IMPORTANT: Please note that general advising questions can be answered in person, over the phone, or via email, but if your questions require access to your personal record, you will be asked to visit your academic advisor in person (FERPA rules are in place to safeguard your personal privacy).
