Information sessions offer you an opportunity to present and market your company to students on campus. Most information sessions are held in conjunction with on-campus interview schedules, but they can be successful as a solitary event as well. Presentations may be targeted to all interested students or to an invitation-only audience, such as students who are signed up for an interview. Sessions are typically held during evening hours and last from 1 to 2 hours.
In general, information sessions serve two primary purposes:
Create Awareness. These sessions should be held several weeks prior to your interview date. The event is an effective way to:
Increase your campus presence and visibility.
Stimulate interest by providing an industry, company and career path overview.
Publicize and promote your campus recruitment plans.
Boost resume submission and encourage interview signups.
Maximize Interview Schedules. These sessions are most effective when scheduled a night or two before your interviews. You may use this session to:
Explain details about your recruiting process to students who have signed up for interviews.
Address general topics such as your corporate culture, benefits packages and other topics that would otherwise take up valuable interview time.
Talk to students who did not submit a resume in advance, and “pencil in” additional interviews for unfilled slots on your schedule.
Meet and evaluate students in an informal setting prior to one-on-one interviews.
To set up an information session, please contact our Recruiting Coordinator at 512-471-9421 or ccsrecruit@austin.utexas.edu. Our office will secure the venue and equipment for your event. A staff member will also attend your information session to assist you if any needs arise.
The College of Communication Job & Internship Fair is held every semester. Please visit our Career Fair section for contact and registration information.
Presentations/Seminars to Student Organizations/Classes
Classroom and student organization participation can be an invaluable tool for promoting your business. However, since CCS is not involved in class scheduling or student organization programming, we are unable to directly facilitate presentations to classes or student groups. You should feel free to contact the appropriate Student Organizations, Academic Departments, or Faculty to discuss your involvement.

Event and Giveaway Sponsorships
Sponsoring or co-sponsoring an event through Communication Career Services can help increase your visibility among our students. Employer sponsorships of career development programs (Dress For Success workshops, Etiquette dinners, etc.), giveaways (T-shirts and other promotional items) and our annual Job & Internship Fair are just a few examples of the sponsorship opportunities available. To discuss sponsorship opportunities, please contact our Recruiting Coordinator at 512-471-9421 or ccsrecruit@austin.utexas.edu for more information.
