David J. Andrews

David J. Andrews (New York, NY) is president of David J. Andrews Associates, LLC, an organizational development consulting practice dedicated to helping not-for-profit organizations achieve their maximum potential. His services range from fund raising and communications to training, coaching and evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of not-for-profit organizations and projects. He works with staff and with boards of directors on management and governance issues and facilitates retreats and special events designed to achieve outstanding results. He is known for creative solutions, problem-solving and “thinking out-of-the-box”.

Mr. Andrews has more than thirty years of top management experience in the field of organizational development at both the national and international levels. Prior to establishing his own consulting practice, he co-founded the Center for the Advancement of Women, a New York-based think-tank on women’s health and social issues; he served as president of Population Communications International, he was Director of Development and Communications for the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region.

For fifteen years, he served as Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and for four years prior to that, as Executive Director of Planned Parenthood of San Antonio, Texas. He worked as a Peace Corps volunteer teacher in Ecuador for two years following his graduation from the University of Texas at Austin College of Communication. In 1967, he represented the University in a national group discussion competition, winning first place in the nation. That same year he won the Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest. In recognition of his achievements in the field of health communications, Andrews was the second person to receive the McGovern Award from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2002, he won the “Freddie” Award (the International Health and Medical Media Awards) as executive producer of a film on women’s health in India. He is a faculty member at the Non-Profit Management Institute of the American Management Association, and a featured speaker at conferences on fund raising, communications, management as well as health and social issues.

David lives with his wife, Mimi in New York City.
